My Manipur, My Responsibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

 Campaign to Build Manipur for Our Next Generation<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Manipur, a former Asiatic kingdom with a civilization spanning thousands of years, was built through courage, resilience, and a unique cultural heritage. But today, this once vibrant powerhouse of Southeast Asia faces a profound crisis. Corruption, greed, and division have weakened our society, leaving it vulnerable to external and xenophobic forces. Leaders enrich themselves, votes are bought and sold like commodities, and people compete for scraps instead of working together to build a better future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not<\/strong> the destiny of Manipur. The Power to Change Lies in Us<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Real, positive change cannot come from outside Manipur or from the powers in Delhi. It will come from our own people\u2014especially our youth. By reclaiming our values of honesty, unity, and responsibility, we can rebuild Manipur from the ground up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Meitei Alliance – a consortium of like-minded diaspora Meitei organisations and individuals – is founded on principles that include\u00a0democratic communication<\/strong>\u00a0(free, fair, and informed discussion with consensus building),\u00a0self-evaluation<\/strong>\u00a0(the voluntary practice of identifying and addressing one\u2019s own shortcomings), and\u00a0democratic centralism<\/strong>\u00a0(welcoming and accommodating constructive opinions, proposals, and suggestions). The Alliance also believes in fostering\u00a0fraternal engagement and solidarity<\/strong>with non-Meitei organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this auspicious day of October 18<\/strong>, the Meitei Alliance proudly launches a series of bi-monthly, non-political, people\u2019s campaigns<\/strong> aimed at guiding the next generation toward integrity and civic responsibility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Meitei Alliance calls upon the youth of Manipur,<\/strong> from every native community<\/strong>, to join hands in this first campaign on Civic Responsibility<\/strong> \u2013<\/strong> Every citizen has a duty<\/strong> and help build a peaceful, united Manipur for our generations to come.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Civic responsibility is the foundation of any healthy, functioning society. It refers to the duties and obligations that citizens have toward their community, state, and nation. These responsibilities are not limited to obeying laws or paying taxes\u2014they include active participation in shaping the society we live in. Without a sense of civic duty, societies fall into corruption, division, and stagnation. With it, communities thrive with justice, fairness, and shared progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Manipur, where corruption and disunity have weakened our collective strength, civic responsibility is not just an idea\u2014it is a necessity for survival and growth. When every citizen understands and practices their civic duty, the entire society benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Civic Responsibility?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Civic responsibility means recognizing that our individual actions affect the larger community. It is the awareness that being a citizen comes with both rights<\/em> and duties<\/em>. Too often, people focus on rights\u2014such as the right to vote, to free expression, or to development\u2014without recognizing the responsibilities that accompany them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
